The data comes primarily from Energex's corporate information system and is based on metering data. The data contains electricity consumption for the South-East Queensland region and is broken down into business, residential and solar energy consumption. The data is total monthly energy usage, total number of customers, and average daily energy usage per customer at the postcode and council spatial level. The data is also aggregated at the South-East Queensland level. The data covers the period from January 2009 to December 2016.

The data is updated annually (typically, in April or May).

Energex notes that those customers that have no known council region are included in the Unknown group. For privacy reasons, groupings with less than 50 customers are not included in the data. Note further disclaimers at the bottom of the Data to Share page.
