Full description

The dataset provides half-hourly gross solar generation, net controlled load and general electricity consumption measurements for 300 homes with solar panels installed. The dataset exclusively includes homes with three continuous years of solar generation data from 2010-11 to 2012-13. For each customer, postcode and solar PV capacity are also recorded.

Supplemental to the half-hourly dataset, Ausgrid also provides monthly aggregate data. The monthly set includes total net energy consumption and (where relevant) gross generation for 2,657 homes with solar panels and 4,064 homes without solar panels. The dataset runs from 2007 to 2014. For each customer, Local Government Area (LGA), postcode and solar PV capacity are recorded.

Note that the data does not necessarily reflect a representative sample of the Ausgrid supply region and that some customer filtering and/or sample biasing was performed prior to the collation of the dataset (such as excluding customers with particularly low or high generation or consumption levels from the half-hourly set, and biasing particular postcodes in the selection of non-solar homes in the monthly set). Note also that monthly data is derived from quarterly consumption measurements. Further details of methodology and limitations are provided in data notes accompanying the data.
