Expected and measured daily performance of solar energy systems for over 50 locations across Australia.
The interactive map highlights solar system performance across 53 climate regions, with geospatial heat maps showing average (estimated) regional performance of solar systems. The tool also allows users to choose from one or more locations, select a data range, and build a chart to compare PV performance data for real systems. Each monitored solar system is part of the National Solar Schools Program (NSSP). Data for monitored systems depends on installation date, but does go back to 2009 in some instances.
Inverter manufacturer SMA provided the data for the charts, which includes onsite weather measurements such as irradiance, ambient temperature and wind speed. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology provided gridded weather data, which underpins the regional PV performance model used to generate the geospatial heat maps.
