Total annual energy consumption of Australia and States by fuel and appliance end use from 2000 to 2030.
Part of the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) program, the Residential Baseline Study (RBS) estimates energy use of residential Australian consumers by fuel type and end use. The dataset is produced from a bottom-up end-use model and includes state-level and national estimates of gross PV generation, potential peak demand, and energy use associated with water heating, space conditioning, lighting, cooking and other appliances. Fuel types under consideration include electricity, wood and gas. Greenhouse gas emission estimates for each state are also included. All data tables cover data from 2000 and are forecast out to 2030.
Note that the RBS model is inherently limited by availability of, and gaps in, data, including with respect to appliance operation during extreme weather events. Users of the data should note the limitations described in the associated Residential Energy Baseline report produced by Energy Consult.
