The data provides a monthly snapshot of the number of installations of small-scale solar, wind, solar water heater and air-source heat pump installations by postcode from January 2016. For solar and wind systems, both the number of installations and total rated capacity are provided. For air-source heat pumps and solar hot water systems, only the number of installations is provided. The number and rating of small-scale hydro is also provided as part of the set, though not with monthly granularity.

For all technologies, installations for years prior to 2016 are aggregated.

Note that the recorded values reflect only valid Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) that have been claimed by a suitably registered person. Since legislation allows for a 12 month certificate creation period, reported numbers may under-represent the true number of installations.

Note that the data is updated by the Clean Energy Regulator on an (approximately) monthly basis, including retrospective changes to data for prior months as new valid certificates are granted.
