Full description

The dataset provides annual aggregated electricity use estimates for 39 local government areas (LGAs) supplied by the Ausgrid distribution network. The data is obtained from customer billing data, consisting of over 1.7 million homes and businesses in the Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales. Annual datasets are available from 2009/10 onwards.

Data is available for four separate categories: residential general supply, off-peak hot water, small-medium non-residential sites and large non-residential sites (annual usage typically > 160 MWh per year). Data relating to solar electricity is also provided including the number of solar customers, generation capacity and solar energy exported to the grid.

Note that reported aggregate solar energy generation is the sum of both gross and net metered outputs. As such, total reported solar generation is less than the true gross output of all connected systems. Also note that the dataset does not include data for high voltage customers or public infrastructure such as public lighting or bus shelters.
