Appliance, water and energy use and household characteristics for participants in the IPART Household Electricity, Gas and Water Usage Survey.
Datasets summarise responses to the 2015 IPART survey of household energy usage in New South Wales conducted by Roy Morgan Research. The survey included interviews with 4,404 households in Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Gosford, the Riverina area, and the North Coast.
Data tables present, for each income bracket, aggregated residential survey responses, including type of hot water and cooking system, the number and use of key appliances, use of heating and cooling equipment, the uptake of solar systems, and fuel switching behaviour. Additional self-reported data on motivation for technology uptake and electricity conservation is also included, together with data related to payment hardship and concessions.
Additional to self-reported data, the tables include mean and median total annual electricity and gas consumption data, broken down into building type and income bracket. This data was provided by the relevant energy supplier.
Note that the dataset also includes detailed self-reported information on residential water use.
Note that reported data has been weighted to correct for sample biases.
