Full description

The report provides long-term statistics related to Australian infrastructure, including transport, energy, communication and water sectors. The report is supported by contextual information on the wider Australian economy, including macroeconomic indicators that are related to infrastructure investment and use. The data is primarily drawn from BITRE and other Australian, state or territory government agencies.

From an energy perspective, the report includes:

  • longitudinal national or regional statistics on energy consumption by broad industry category;
  • investment into energy infrastructure;
  • length of transmission and distribution systems;
  • generation capacity;
  • energy inputs in the generation sector;
  • energy production and usage;
  • number of electricity customers;
  • residential electricity price indices; and
  • emissions data.

Production and use statistics explore both gas and electricity. Tables are available in Excel format from the report website.

Note that relevant disclaimers and use of report materials is well summarised on page ii of the report.
