Longitudinal data from Queensland Household Energy Surveys, covering demographics, energy bills, and the uptake of energy technologies.
The Queensland Household Energy Survey (QHES) has been running annually since 2009. It is conducted on behalf of Queensland’s energy distribution and transmission companies (Energex, Ergon Energy and Powerlink). The aim is to identify trends in household electricity usage that may affect the management of the electricity grid. The dataset is updated on an annual basis, providing both a snapshot of longitudinal trends in survey responses and a more comprehensive review of the most recently completed survey. Data is provided in aggregated cross-tabulated format and covers:
The data also includes responses to questions about potential future adoption of technologies and perception of current barriers to adoption.
Note that the data is self-reported and the survey is opt-in. As such, data is subject to attendant accuracy and representativeness risks, particularly with respect to questions gauging attitude and future action. Further context for the survey data is provided in the Research Insights Report, hosted on the data website.
