The report provides findings from an online survey of 440 people living below the poverty line in New South Wales. The survey was conducted by Essential Media's Online Research Unit between 8 April 2017 and 30 April 2017. Findings include an analysis of affordability of energy, a review of electricity and gas bills for respondents in different supply areas, and mitigating actions that households take in order to pay their energy bills or reduce their energy bills. Data also includes the frequency of disconnections across the cohort, late payment of bills, take-up of energy efficiency measures and access to energy assistance programs.
